If It Were Up To Me

written by Clifton J. Williams

You and I seem to disagree
If it wasn’t you, then it must have been me.
You pull in a little harder, then I push
Up against the wall we stand
And we go around and round again

Well if you don’t try, then you won’t see, cause you don’t want to be
What you’ve become now

If it were up to me,
If it were up to me
I would leave all those bags left on that plane
And everyone else who, thinks for us, they know the way
I would leave
Only if it were up to me.

I’m just trying to get some sleep
But there’s too many people crowding our sheets
You scoot in a little closer, and get pulled back
By everybody in our bed
And we go around and round again

Well if you don’t try, then you won’t see, cause you don’t want to be
What you’ve become now

If it were up to me
If it were up to me
I would leave all those bags left on that plane
And everyone else who, thinks for us they know the way
I would leave
Only if it were up to me.

You and I, we can go anywhere
Far from here, with only ourselves and no expectations
To be…

Well if you don’t try, then you won’t see, cause you don’t want to be
What you’ve become now

If it were up to me
If it were up to me
I would leave all those bags left on that plane
And everyone else who, thinks for us they know the way
I would leave
Only, if it were up to me.
