I Can Relate
written by Clifton J. Williams

I went away,
I put on a new face and walked a different way.
Coming back only to find,
that nothing’s changed.
But surely you can see,
that I can relate
and I can be just like this person that I was,
before I went away.

But wait,
I remember that there was this time,
you and me sipping from our minds.
The time changed but we don't care,
just where we’re going to go.
But surely you can see,
that I can relate
and I can be just like this person that I was,
before I went away.

Wanting more, searching for more.
Trying to figure out
what is really going on.
What’s going on around here.

But now I feel fine, I got me a life,
I got me a job, and I got me a wife.
Someone tell my just why I feel so trapped inside.
But I thought that I could see,
well I don’t want to be just like this person that I was,
before I went away.

Wanting more, searching for more.
Trying to figure out
what is really going on.
What’s going on around here.
