Hello There
written by Clifton J. Williams

Hello there,
I’ve come 4 thousand miles,
but traveled the journeys of nowhere.
And I’ve slept on a train on my way to Inzing,
and I was hoping to rest my head for the night.

Good morning,
Won’t you come to my home,
and see where I reside with my woman.
And please take your time, drinking my wine,
Cause I know your weary from the ways of the world

Excuse me,
May I please take your memory with me,
he asked "why?" then saluted me.
Cause there’s no place like this place anywhere near,
so this must be the place for me to stay.

But then one day, oh how the rivers cried.
The sun shined on the mountain on a different side.
The music I played kept going on
And the rivers in my own beds were gone

It’s been 300 days,
Since the last I spoke to the man
who dealt me this hand at my faith.
But one day she got off the bus and showed me the way,
and he was dressed in the form of a Spaniard saint

But then one day, oh how the rivers cried.
The sun shined on the mountain on a different side.
The music I played kept going on,
and the rivers in my own beds were gone.

Now can’t you see what you’ve done to me.
Blinded by your light,
yet addicted to the way that you fall into me.
And that’s why I’m still standing here.
Taught by the many years,
and feared from the only thing that I fear...

Is to hear you say those words to me,
on the day, and in the way when I left your country.
You said you would return but now I see,
the rivers in their beds are all dried up,
and now it is time for me to go.

If you leave I’ll never stay,
and if you go, I’d go away,
For I need you now.
